Beaded Chandeliers

Kim Gray

Currently, it is a beautiful April afternoon here in Edmonton. Sunny, windy, somewhat enchanting. Maybe its just me, but it feels like everything is about to burst. Burst with life, with excitement (wait, that’s definitely me) with new moments. I am so excited to share these beaded chandeliers with you. There is a company in South Africa called Hellooow, and they hand make some of the chandeliers pictured here. They even have an ombre one, but you can pick your style and the colour of the beads. How tantalizing is that? I want one, or three…

Many of the photos shown here even have the beaded beauties placed outside. With a whimsical combination of ceramic beads, wire, and embellishments like tassles and crystals, what’s not to love. I mean you had me at chandelier, right? We all know how much I love a good chandelier.

There are many different shapes to choose from depending on the space you are working with. Teardrop, French, Vignette and Elongated ones are all available to suit different areas. I imagine two cute little ones placed on either side of a bed instead of lamps. Or a bone coloured one for a beachy room.

Hellooow

I am so in love with the look of these. I can envision one in every room I walk in these last few days. Kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room, entry way. No matter where you hang one the effect will be stunning! Where will you put yours?

Ceiling Medallion Marvels

This is Glamorous

Ambient lighting is an important factor you can and should play with in every room in your home. It creates warmth and depth and conveys a cozy, loved and lived in feeling. One day, I plan to have a chandelier of some opulent sort in nearly every room of my dream home and I won’t stop at that! Oh, no I won’t! For instance, I’ll add a ceiling medallion to finish the look. Ceiling medallions act like a picture frame for your light fixture and provide architectural interest. Such a great way to add detail, and they are relatively inexpensive and you can find them at most hardware stores.

Finishing details add polish and a sense of completion to a room. When the lights are low and the evenings long you may even experience some shadow play with the architectural details in certain medallions depending on your light source. The ceilings shown here are dramatic and lovely all at the same time. You don’t have to paint your ceiling black, you could paint the medallion a contrasting colour or paint it the same as the ceiling for an understated look.

A Storied Style

What else can you do with ceiling medallions? Well, you can paint several of your favourites and create a gallery wall of ceiling medallion art. You could also affix a mirror to the backside of a medallion, for a pretty take on a small mirror.

Of the photos I procured for this post, the chandelier pictured in the first photo is a great fit style wise. As for the rest, this might surprise you but I would change them all to chandeliers. Maybe even a drum chandelier in place of the ceiling fan and light fixture in the second and third photos respectively. Pretty, glitzy ceiling bling, you just can’t go wrong!! XOXO

6 Lovely Bedrooms

Dual Mirrors Above Side Tables

Laura Lee Clark

The great move is imminent and coming quick! I believe the house has sold although I haven’t received the final word. This means big change for us. Exciting change. New colour. New patterns. New ideas. And a fresh start. While my search for a new place begins I am dazzled with the possibilities of decorating each of the new rooms, especially a lovely bedroom.

Pale Gray Room with Tufted Headboard

New England Home

Inspired by opulence and the idea of creating something dreamy and new for my own bedroom I have come up with some images of elements I would like to introduce. First, I had to ask myself what makes a really great bedroom. For me, that means a balance of beauty and comfort. I want a soft, muted space for dreaming. A place with soft textures, elegant patterns and a pop of colour I can change when need be. My current bedroom has some pretty, but the vision was never finished. And that is okay. Life itself is a work in progress and some visions require alterations and alternate blueprints with secret, hidden rooms behind the bookcase and beyond the stars. New visions are calling so here we go!

Sweet Bedding

Zsa Zsa Bellagio

Layers and layers of soft, texturally appealing bedding is what I am after! How cosy.

Bedroom Ideas for the New Room:

Symmetrical side tables

Pretty bedding

An upholstered headboard

Twin mirrors to hang above the symmetrical side tables

An upholstered bench for the end of the bed

A reading chair (oh, yes, I have my eye on one! Stay tuned…new job equals new inspiration!!)

And a sprinkling of pretty sparkly things

Reflective lighting, if not a chandelier some curvy glass table lamps. Daylight and nightlight reflect in their own shimmering ways, each equally elegant if chosen right.

Pale Blue with Chandelier

Better Homes and Gardens

Things I hope for in the new place:

  • Lots of light
  • More light
  • Light so I can pull off a white with a pale hint of a colour, colour scheme like the blue above or the gray below.

Lovely Bedroom with Symmetry

Casa Sugar

While the yellow carpet may look surprising in this room, if you follow the link and tour the whole home, the yellow appears throughout the space. Love the tour!

Upholstered and Tufted Headboard

The Cross Design

I love the stacked pillow detail and the side table. Such a simple detail, in a lovely bedroom. You can change it every day when you make your bed. By the way, I am a make your bed every single morning kind of girl (not just on behalf of teaching kids proper human behaviour, but because I like to give things a little polish, especially to start the day, every day is kind of special in its own way, yes?) and I am always surprised when I hear of someone who doesn’t!! So tell me, do you make your bed every day?

A Little Chandelier Love

Chelsea Chandelier

Chandeliers can be exquisite like a precious jewel or colourful and fun like costume jewelry. In fact, a chandelier is like jewelry for your home! This type of lighting can be used to glam up any room in the house. From the laundry room, to the bathroom, to the living room and the bedrooms. And don’t forget the foyer! I think we have all viewed a stunning jewel draped chandelier in a foyer, haven’t we?

The chandeliers above remind me of ribbon candy or spun sugar.

5 Reasons a chandelier might be just the thing for you:

  • It will bounce light around the room
  • It creates visually appealing shadows and light reflections for cozy nights of entertaining
  • It acts as a focal point
  • It will automatically dress up any space
  • It will make you smile because it is a finishing detail, which means your room is probably finished and you can finally enjoy it!

This glittery baubled-up baby is just so pretty! I want like five of these so I can hang them everywhere I look to.

How great would this one look in a dove-gray room with a trellis pattern stencilled on the walls? Gray, white and yellow loveliness.

I love the patina and the silhouette of this chandelier. I think it would look special in a bedroom. Lighting can transform your room from one state to another depending on the choices you make. Always consider the type of activities going on in the room you place a chandelier in, to determine how much light is required. As always, choose one that makes your heart swell with the beauty of it and all else will fall into place. That works with everything, doesn’t it?
